A Hooker's Field Trip

Yesterday morning before the sun was over the hill I was getting ready for the HOOKER'S FIELD TRIP.

Yes that is right we Hooker's not only travel in groups but we go to really awesome places together!

We also try to convert other friends to be Hooker's & Strippers....yesterday Sahara & I picked up the Pastor's Wife & 3 yr old daughter!

After met up with the more 'experienced' Hookers in Zephyrhill's we caravanned off to Mickey D's, Janet (a DAR) needed coffee and Helen realized Ron left her no gas in their truck, so she filled up while we grabbed coffee to go.
Somehow I ended up in the lead which is interesting because I have never driven to Brooksville. Thankfully Ron gave me general directions before we left and I remembered them!! Which was really interesting since Lori & I were chatting away about everything under the sun. Thankfully Helen is not only a Hooker & Stripper but Lori noticed she was now a FLASHER!
She would signal me to turn by turning on her flashing turn signal. Boy I think Lori is a NATURAL picking out these things so quickly!

We almost missed Rogers Christmas House though and had to pull into Miss Kitty's

Miss Kitty's even has a DRIVE THRU?!

We went in while Helen & Janet made lunch reservations for us all across the street. There are five houses full of wonderful things each with it's own theme

The girls liked Storybook House

I picked up some 1/2 off Glass Christmas ornaments and a set of led lights to start the transition over to a greener Christmas!
We ran into Melanie, another of our hooker group, she only lives a few miles away and met us in the Storybook House.
It was time for lunch before we finished going through all the shops so the ladies were kind enough to hold our baskets (which they will take to the front house for you if you fill it up and you can start a new basket) until we returned from lunch.

Across the street in another historic home was Mallie Kyla's Cafe and gift shops where I had a wonderful Crab Bisque soup, Lori & I split the Southern Spinach Salad which was delicious! Afterwards I purchased these adorable little birds which will find there way into something special I will be creating soon!

Heading back across the street to the shops we finished our purchases & then it was time to leave.
Sahara & Tyler had a Piano Recital that evening and it would take us about an hour & a half to get back to the Martins' house. Then another 20 minutes to get home, eat dinner & clean up for the recital.

We did take the scenic route through the winding hills of San Antonio and saw some beautiful cattle & horse farms.

Lori & I decided we need to do a Mom's day out at least once a month we had such a lovely time.
Maybe one with the girls and one for us alone!

Here's hoping you make time to enjoy a day with your friends!

Spinning around in circles....

Have you ever had a day when there are sooo many thoughts & things to do or accomplish running through your head & bumping into each other?

I woke up at 4 am with ideas & things to do battling it out in my brain. My body won out after 2 hours & I fell back asleep.
My brain feels like a Roller Derby Contest today...each idea racing to beat the next idea knocking it off the track for it to sneak up and knock the other off the track in a couple laps. AAAHHHHHHHH

Schoolwork to be graded, laundry to be done, 15 different projects in various stages of completion, 15 more to start, BIG CROP to finish planning & start pre-prep on, Piano lessons this afternoon, Field Trip tomorrow, Piano Recital tomorrow night CALGON TAKE ME AWAY!

Okay so I figure I better start a list because one of these ideas is bound to get lost in the mayhem!
I did get that little ditty listed on Etsy the other day just click my Etsy in the upper right side of this blog.

May you have a PEACEFUL weekend!

Another weekend GONE ...custom baby onesies

I had a long list of 'to do's' this weekend but they didn't seem to get done!

Saturday afternoon/evening was spent watching Gavin,
here is the famous BOO BOO lip he has been making for a month now.

Don't recall ever seeing a one month old making boo boo lips!

He was happier outside but we don't have a stroller so we made our own
REDNECK STROLLER

Sunday while everyone was watching The Bears play the Buc's or The Rays (yes I like sports but I would rather be doing something else) I ran to JOAnn fabrics & found cute little onesies and iron ons to make for Gavin.

SPOILER ALERT BRITTANY & TIM DON'T LOOK

Seriously Brittany look away now!!

After washing & drying the the onesies

They need to be placed on a hard surface so I used the cutting board

Then I dry pressed the location the iron on will go

Placed the decal in the center of the onesie & pressed for about 80 seconds pressing firmly

LAST CHANCE TO LOOK AWAY BRITTANY!!

working at the Top Shop in High School really paid off didn't it?

I am not showing you the other 3 because I KNOW my DIL did not look away....she listens as well as my kids do!

Now I am sewing together a little ditty I hope to have listed on Etsy tonight or tomorrow...correction I am making salad for dinner then finishing the little ditty!

Lost & Found

Yes I found the camera cable sometime on Thursday but I was watching Gavin and was not going to put him down to post the rugs....if you don't have a grandchild you wouldn't understand!

Friday well after heading out to the Vet in Lake Alfred we ran into our neighbors Lu & Adele at Lavender & Lace ...they had lunch we browsed the shop & then headed home after a quick trip to mickey d's for lunch.

After a nice, long, quiet walk this morning with Otis

I am ready to share those photo's from last Saturday
This was last Saturdays fog in North Plant City

Maggie hooked this Maria Barton Pattern from Starr Rugs

Maggie also hooked this table runner and her own design Square Pumpkins

Here are the Santa's from class last month

One of Jonny's tree skirts (she hooked two this year along with 12 class projects & a few others)
We think she is running a sweat shop of hookers at her home!

This is Helen's current project

Our current class project

Saturday Afternoon Rainbow

Next Saturday we are heading to Brooksville for a field trip...just a day away to visit some of the local shops there & have lunch! Want to join us?

Online Cross Stitch Magazine

No I still haven't found the cable...sorry I am looking while I am deep cleaning the bedroom though.

In the meantime I received my September Issue of The Gift of Stitching and WOW!
I love seeing Stitchers/Designers from around the world and what they are creating in different countries.
There are projects & charts not to mention clickable links which take you to learn more or see more.
I am thinking I need to make the Mary Queen of Scots Needleroll.
The inspiration from all the photos & websites are more than enough to keep you busy for the month or longer.
Even if your not a stitcher you should just take a moment to check it out!
Kristen Edwards, the editor & brains behind the magazine, is a dear soul that has blessed the readers with her talent.
Thank you Kristen for following those dreams and giving us a wonderful magazine.

Off to grade school papers, work on the church bulletin (they are testing me to see if I can do it right) & clean some more....say a prayer I find that cable!

UFO Rugs on the Road to Texas

Well today I shipped off two of our UFO rugs to Cheryl in Texas...if you have never visited THE HOOKERS site you should!

Primitive Rug Hookers

I still haven't found my cable for my camera..I really wanted to post a few photo's of some of the beautiful rugs from Primitives Class on Saturday. I will keep looking in between working on Sahara & Gavin's Christmas presents and .... grading papers.

This was Saturday morning heading into the DH's office to drop him off before class...it was foggy only about a mile around the facility. I took it with my cell phone it was absolutely beautiful.

Friday Free For All

After breaking my toe Monday I have realized I can not sit for long periods of time...my day is usually spent moving
Sitting for more than an hour during the day usually means I am not feeling well.
So being forced to stay off my foot has been challenge for me one I have not succumbed to very willingly.

After getting my tennis shoe on today I thought hey maybe it really isn't broken & I only jammed or dislocated it.
NOT
By the time we got home from Piano & the couple errands today my toe was throbbing & I am now icing it again! UGH

So instead of mowing the front yard with my 'personal trainer' yes my personal trainer is our YARD MAN mower...
I am heading off to Primitive Hooking in Zephryhills to hang out & do some hooking on the UFO rugs.
The next person they are to be sent to is looking at IKE coming her way so I am going to hook a little more until Monday when the storm should be past her neck of the woods.

I want to leave you with the calendar quote from yesterday, September 11th

"If we truly want peace in the world, let us being by loving one another in our own families. If we want to spread joy, we need for every family to have joy." ~ Mother Teresa

just makes me think of what kind of family someone that would kill another or even themselves grew up with.

Good Friends, Good Music, Good Morning

Friday Night was a blast! Sarah's cousin Beth had never been so we took her on TWISTER first
...then THE MUMMY!
That is my favorite ride...it starts out like Pirates of The Caribbean, it then reminds me of The Haunted Mansion, then it's alot like Rockin' Roller Coaster but it is over too fast!

We then ate at Finnegan's and Tyler ran back & forth between the stages & his food.

As you can see BETH is a stitch & fits right in with our little group! She kept us laughing every time I took a picture with her poses!

After dinner Kristin & I stopped at Starbuck's, I had to have a Pumpkin Spice Latte even though it was about 85 degrees out still.
I have realized I am getting old because all the noise in the lines hurts my ears! Sarah had run to the First Aid to get earplugs for herself & ibuprofen for my headache from the noise of the teenagers in the lines.

There was still an hour to go before the Newsboys took the stage so we headed over to try to get nice & close.....HAHAHAHAH
It was a LITERAL WALL of bodies all the way back to the lighting tent... we found a small area near the middle where we could breathe and maybe do a little jumping.

It NEVER ceases to move me when I see this many people come & worship GOD, multi-generations/race/nationality it is AMAZING!

When they came out on the catwalk to the mini stage we found out we were closer than we expected!

Peter, Paul, Duncan & Jeff

Sarah got one of Duncan's drumsticks after the concert so she & Sahara posed with Peter's cocktail set

I hope to post more later & hopefully add that short vid clip...The glass repair guy is here & I have to elevate my foot since I broke my toe yesterday

GOOD FRIDAY MORNING!!!! Hanna update

Well Hurricane Hanna is on the move and she is avoiding us, PRAISE GOD. Now the folks in the Carolinas look to be in her sights.
She is a little closer than I would like for this evenings events...We have been waiting ALL YEAR for ROCK THE UNIVERSE
Right now we are getting things set up today for tomorrows big Customer Appreciation Crop since we won't be home until after 1am
Moving furniture from the living room into the other rooms so we can set up the tables & chairs since it will be too humid to crop on the lanai. Since I am making lunch for everyone I have been tossing around a few possibilities ... Tropical Chicken Salad or 13 bean Chili... DH has had numerous requests for his WORLD famous Scones so they will have to be baked in the morning. I might need to run to the store to get a few things though all before Piano Lessons this afternoon. Where we will be meeting Sarah, her cousin, my cigar buddy Perry & his wife to caravan up to Universal at 4pm. Deep Breath!

How have you been doing with trying to bless someone each day? I don't know that I actually thought about blessing someone but I hope that just through my words or actions I blessed someone this week. I know a few of you have blessed me in one way or another & I am truly grateful for you in my life.

HAVE A WONDERFUL WEEKEND!

SERIOUSLY?!!! Fixin' & Repairin'

This weekend was spent fixin' & repairin' things around the house....
I don't know if any one thing actually got fixed completely...
1. My car is still sittin' it has something wrong with the transmission & the engine is misfiring.
2. The pool pump is runnin' but on half the suction.
3. The electrical issues are fixed, at least we believe they are seems a bunch of ants climbed into the outlet that the yard lights are plugged into & died from more than likely electrocution. We are hoping this was causing all the other circuits to trip!

Then after that one got fixed the steering on our used riding mower went out...you can only go in a circle to the right....hmmm can you say "CROP CIRCLES" lol

This means we are back to push mowing Mt. Stonehenge in the back now too!

The studio/crop room is almost done though...need to grade school work and then tackle the paperwork piles & my photo mess.

Pray Hannah brings us cool/dry air this Friday Night ... we are going to ROCK THE UNIVERSE if she doesn't hit Florida!

While I haven't heard from anyone what they did to bless another I am still personally doing what I can by giving folks a little extra something..a kind word, encouragement, gifts, help when needed and staying focused on GOD.
