Still hanging in there...I think I am!

Well I don't know about you friends but I can barely find time to breathe these days?
I am not one to over-schedule during the holidays & I usually say NO to any extra activities in order to maintain my sanity.
This month has been full of unexpected activities that have to be done, outside of daily things, like laundry, dishwasher, school etc. Apparently we are going to end the year the same way it began.

Saturday's 2nd annual Hooker's Christmas Party was the highlight of my week. Sahara & I drove the hour to Lake Jovita just arriving seconds before Susan.
Jonnys house was beautiful as always and she had 3 different breakfast breads & coffee waiting for us.

After checking out what 'new' things she created we sat down to do a little hooking and exchange gifts before group pictures.
Lunch was served & we had a delicious Beef Soup/Stew with an assortment of Cheese & crackers, cucumbers & hummus and for dessert, homemade pumpkin pie.
Here are Maggie's Twin Rugs

One of our class projects for next year
Then started the chaos ...I got a text that Casper's eye was bleeding & swollen shut, so Sahara & I packed up and raced home. Where I quickly assessed this needed to be checked by a Vet. While everyone changed into their recital outfits I found a Vet in the area we were going for the Christmas Recitals. DH dropped Casper & I off at the Vet and drove down the road to the recital.

An hour later & another $120 Casper was now on 5 medications, 3 are ointments that needed to be rotated every 2 hours and a referral to a Veterinary Ophthalmologist, I started walking towards the Church 1/4 mile down the road carrying the dog.
While walking I found $10 on the side of the road, this comes into play later!
We gathered the kids up and orders for Meredith & Sarah and drove for to Mickey D's for a quick bite before the next Recital stared. Casper was a trouper and after eating a hamburger he slept through the second one.
Meredith made an announcement regarding recital fees...which I had forgotten to pay....ahhh $10 THANK YOU GOD!

We missed the Church Christmas Party and on the way home got the call that Tim needed help putting Gavin's tube back in, he is now weighing in at 11 lbs 12 oz and will be 5 mo old next week, only gaining 9 oz since the hospital released him on the 1st, so we headed over there next and we finally got home around 9 pm
The rest of the weekend is a blur as I have had minimal sleep, getting up every two hours to put ointment in Casper's eye. I do remember our family did the reading & lit the Advent candle at church.

Monday I called my Vet for a referral to an Ophthalmologist and made his appointment for today. We drove to Tampa & Dr. Wolf is WONDERFUL, he sent me home with more medications along with orders to continue the ointment every two hours for another 48 hrs and return on Saturday.
Great I still need to put up our Christmas Decorations and get ready for a Garage Sale to try to recoup these Vet bills.

Here is just one of the items I mailed off to Yvonne my Christmas Gift Exchange Buddy...

Did I mention the day before DH left on his business trip he snapped the shower head off ? It was leaking down the inside of the wall, which of course he had to cut open. So I was changing a towel in the wall every 3 hours to soak up the drips until I thought of stuffing a #8 cut wool strip into the front of the pipe to wick the water into the shower & not the wall on Monday.

Libby & those of you who asked there is nothing definite on the relocation yet, which makes me happy since the weather everywhere else seems to be FRIGID! It also means we can spend Christmas with the kids and I won't miss Hooking in Sebring with Polly in January!

Thank you all!

I have to thank Kelley for posting a comment because I completely forgot I hadn't updated anyone on Calvin's tests.
Friday night I had to pick up the eldest daughter after she dropped her car off at a friends to be fixed & took her home...all while driving the stick with Otis on my arm.
Saturday I had to pick her up, take her to work & get to the shop by 8:30 for Primitive Class. Got the call at 11:30 that he has HYPOthyroid. Normal for a cat is 4 and under, Calvin's is 18 so his body is burning up all his muscle tissue. . .
I would be happy to trade some of my slow for his fast and even the deal out!

There are some other stuff but first we are getting his thyroid back to 'normal' and his bladder infection cleared up. This could be why his front ligaments are hyper extended there is no muscle tissue there to support his legs. Poor thing!

So he has to have meds 2 x a day for the next 2wks for his Thyroid and 1x a day for his bladder. In the meantime his appetite has returned and he is eating special treats (chicken, fish, goat milk, raw milk cheese) every 3 -4 hours.

THANK YOU ALL FOR YOUR PRAYERS! Hopefully we can help him regain some muscle & fat now!

In the meantime I have been hooking two of the UFO rugs, Un Finished Objects (Hooked Rugs). One is ready to mail to the next hooker on the trail & the other is just about ready!

I started this on PRHG about a month ago with a dozen hookers. We picked a rug that we hadn't hooked or started hooking and gave up on under 2ft x 2ft to send on the road.
Each person hooks about 4" x 4" of the rug and mails it off to the next person who does the same thing. Each hooker is to take a picture of the rug while they hook it or when they are finished with their portion. They can send along a note with the rug detailing their experience for the rug owner. Some included a journal to keep with the rug and one lady even sent small wool magnets she made for all the ladies hooking her rug.
This has been a fun experience because you can hook a small area & know your contributing to a whole piece without getting bored with it.

I will be posting photo's of each rug's progress and the finished rugs on PRHG's Blog when they have traveled the country & returned home. So check there often!

Here is a photo or two from the trip home .... Our first 'offical' campground (not Denise's front yard) in Berlin, Ohio

And The Local Amish in their Horse & Buggy....I swear they just ride around town like employees at Disney as part of the atmosphere.

OKay off to clean house before guests arrive!

HAPPY MEMORIAL DAY!!!

Julie said the title makes her think of the song. :-)

Here are a couple more photo's from Mondays Event.

Pattern Booklet Finally Printed & Listed on Etsy

Well I finally finished my pattern booklet! It is so hard to believe I started it 4 months ago. Now I have to confess I didn't work on it daily or even weekly...I sketched images as they came to me, something I saw (like the cover image) or something I love (Boston Baby).

I kept the images I drew, smudges and all, scanned them in & darkened them up so they showed up more clearly when printed.
Some have a phrase, word or saying on them others are simple designs that can be enhanced to fit your personal preferences.
There are 10 drawings that can be enlarged or reversed for Rug Hooking, Punchneedle or Needle Punch, Wool Applique Penny Rugs, Folk Art Painting, Primitive Stitching, ATC's, Collage or anything you can dream up!

This is the cover of the booklet

This is one of the designs hooked up into a Rocking Chair Pad for a New Mother

Okay time to go to sleep, it has been a long day!

How not to catch the family cold....

Last week my youngest daughter & my husband caught a NASTY cold.
Seeing the big picture & knowing I am finally going to GET AWAY for two days this weekend (a mini vacation for me) I kept them at arms length all week, no mouth kissing only cheek, washed my hands a hundred more times during the day, upped my Vitamin C intake, ate well, drank plenty of water, got 7hrs a night (okay maybe interrupted by dogs barking at the eldest when he came home) sleep.

Saturday morning I leave bright & early for Primitive Rug Hooking Class leaving DH still in bed now watching tv & the kids somewhat asleep. I arrive back home after lunch and the bed is made. Well now isn't that thoughtful?!!!!

After a LONG emotional day and trying to finish some of the to do list before bed (while watching the radar for 2 hours as we were under Tornado Watches & Warnings) I finally crawl in bed at 11:30 and decide to watch SNL's Tracy Morgan tribute. The only skit I remember is "Brian Fellows" with "The Rock" which was pretty funny.
I proceed to fall asleep propped up on the stack of pillows with my glasses on.

At some point the hubby comes in to remove my glasses & ask if I am watching this? No not really I am asleep! I then moved the pillows down so I didn't throw my back out & dozed back off. Waking up about 3 hours later to a sore throat, stuffy nose & the boys still watching television in the living room (right outside my bedroom door). After telling them to GET TO BED & getting a drink of water I climb back in bed realizing why I feel sick......
I HAVE HIS PILLOW & NOT MINE!
My special pillow is lower than his, his is higher 'to prevent snoring' AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
3 hours of breathing in the COLD GERMS that have been on his pillowcase all week long & NOW I HAVE IT!!!!

My nose looks like rudolph, it is runny, I am sneezing constantly, my nose & eyes are itchy & my throat is still sore!!!
I have increased the Vit.C. again, have been rinsing my nose with salt water (trying to flush the germs out) & trying not to rip my nose off my face! At least I found the vaseline to put on it so the 'lotion' tissues don't continue to make it more raw. So now it is a GLOSSY RED NOSE.

They both feel better after 4 days so I am banking on that hoping I will too, even if I don't count yesterday as day 1 that gives me until Thursday, when I have to go to the Dentist for the back molar that broke 1/4 off on Friday.
Thankfully it isn't hurting as there is enough of that silver filling stuff in my mouth to build a small ship!
Where I will get to hear how I need that temp. crown replaced with a permanent one (it's been there about 6yrs and only comes off when I eat something sticky) that the other top molar needs new amalgam since the silver stuff is falling out & that one does hurt occasionally.

NO I am not afraid of the dentist, in fact I LOVE my old dentist, the one in Illinois. I spent most of my childhood in his office NEVER once did I have pain & he pulled out all 4 of my impacted wisdom teeth in his office. Even called me at home to find out how I was later that night (mind you this was back in 1981-82. The dentists here only make your teeth clean & white then they send you off to someone else to make you feel the pain, that way you don't HATE them.
However I am wise to the game & they are still the ones who send you off to the 'pain dentist'!

Wonder if my insurance will cover my old dentist if I fly back to Illinois to have dental work.
Dr. Cooper can you pencil me in for next week?

Yesterday while I was just miserable (sick & mourning over little Julian going home to be with the LORD, see my Prayer Warrior link)
I got a wonderful email from a fellow group moderator, she was hooking one of my designs and sent me photos throughout the day of her progress.
This brightened my day especially since I finally finished drawing the last few designs/patterns for my book yesterday.
I just have to have the hubby scan them in & email them to me so I can tweak them in Pages & add the 'fine' print before running them off to sell!! Hopefully this can be done tomorrow night. LOL

On that note here is her finished piece (yes she hooked it in one day, while watching the game even!)

Thank you Irma for sharing this with everyone, you did a wonderful job & I just love the colors you chose.

Folks hug your children, your spouse, your friends, your loved ones life it too short not to appreciate each other!
Hugs to you Irma for lifting my spirits & Hug to you readers for taking the time to stop in & share my life story.
